From Paper Cuts to Inbox Overload: Why Admin Still Matters.

Admin is the backbone of any business.

Big, small, or somewhere in between.
It’s a vital part of keeping everything running smoothly.

Sure, technology has given admin a glow-up — automating some tasks, speeding others up — but admin itself hasn’t disappeared. It’s just had a bit of a wardrobe change. (Think less paper cuts, more screen time!)

Let’s rewind for a sec.

Early in my career, part of my day was physically opening letters (yes, actual envelopes — shoutout to papercuts everywhere 🙃), sorting mail, and delivering it either by hand, through an internal system, or popping it in someone’s in-tray.

Fast forward to today: thanks to email (bless you, technology), the job of physically opening and delivering has mostly vanished. But — and it’s a big but — the work hasn’t.

Instead of a mountain of paper on a  desk, it’s now a mountain of emails in an inbox.
Yes, it’s faster to get information.
Yes, it usually lands where it needs to go.

But someone still has to action it.

Information doesn’t process itself (at least not yet 🤖).

Invoices still need sorting.
Client queries still need answering.
Projects still need organising.

So while technology has changed the tools we use, it hasn’t changed the importance of good admin. If anything, keeping things tidy and moving is more important now — because everything moves faster, and expectations are higher.

Admin hasn’t gone anywhere — it’s just evolved. And it's still absolutely essential for a business to thrive.
